Jet Boating at the Heart of the Reversing Falls

Destinations/North America
Jet Boating at the Heart of the Reversing Falls

Before getting on a small jet boat, you put on a giant, baggy wet suit. You leave everything you do not want to get wet in the car, and you head onboard for a new adventure. As you make your way to where the fresh and salt water meet, you notice the rapid-like whirlpools that your boat is headed directly towards. You are about to take on one of the world’s natural phenomenon known as the Reversing Falls.

Reversing Falls

Up in Saint John, New Brunswick in eastern Canada, the Reversing Falls takes place where the Saint John River meets the Bay of Fundy. Before reaching the bay, the river first squeezes through a narrow gorge. Upon arrival, high tide blocks the river from entering the bay and creates a reversing effect. With the Saint John River essentially turning around, we in turn get the falls.

Luckily for you, the existence of the Reversing Falls gives you another opportunity to explore something new. There is only one company that is approved and available to take on the rapids, and that is the Reversing Falls Jet Boat Rides. With their specially designed boats, you get to go closer to the falls than any other ordinary viewing point in the area. They also take you around the wild whirlpools, which are created from the carved out rock formations in the river. It can be a scary, but also exhilarating expedition, and sometimes having that small bit of fear can make your adventure that much better.

When travelling across the globe, it is always interesting to find things that are unique only to that destination. Knowing that this is one of the few (or only) places in the world to take part in such an excursion, it really makes you appreciate your travels that much more.
