A Parisian Winter: Walking Through Christmas on the Champs-Élysées

The Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris, France is one of most highly recognized streets in the City of Light, if not the world. Stretching from the Arc de Triumph down to Place de la Concorde, Champs-Élysées is lined with shops, expensive real estate, cafes, and true Parisian architecture. On sunny days, the sun seems to be shining extra bright as it reflects off the old light fixtures and the large display windows of fancy boutiques; at the night, Champs-Élysées shines from the racing car headlights and the glow from those very same vintage lights the sun reflected off of earlier.

Champs-Élysées

To make this scene even more beautiful and storybook-like, you must experience the Avenue des Champs-Élysées during the winter holiday months. From late November to early January, the avenue is completely transformed into a winter wonderland. Walking from Place de la Concorde up to the first roundabout, you will find that Christmas has completely taken over this stretch of the avenue, as well as all of your senses.

The Christmas Market on the Champs-Élysées is truly one of the best in the city. Not only are you walking on one of the grandest places on earth, but the market is also filled with delicious eats, warm beverages, and perfect tents with the perfect Christmas gifts. Even if you don’t spend any money, the alluring smells of the finest French foods and amazing display of Christmas lights will surely provide a winter miracle; it will be an experience you will never forget.

Visiting the Champs-Élysées during the winter months is the perfect outing for all ages. You can take care of any shopping you need to get done, while taking the kids to get their picture taken with Santa Clause. At the very least, it is a magical walk that will definitely get you in to the Christmas spirit!
