Go North!: 5 Sights and Adventures that Make New York an Outstanding State to Visit

Getting bored in New York is pretty much unheard of. From fabulous sightseeing opportunities, to top-class cuisine and urban entertainment, this city is one of the primary destinations your trip should be structured around. But what exactly does it offer that makes it worth visiting?

  1. The Statue of Liberty

Being one of the most iconic statues in the entire world, this is one of the main reasons why tourists love coming to New York. It’s a symbol of freedom and democracy, the core values of the modern world. Not many people know this, but the statue was actually a gift from France. In the year of 1924, it became a national monument. But enough of the history lesson – if you want to take a look at it from up close (and from the inside), you can do so by taking a tour that involves a boat ride.

     2. Yankee Stadium

This is where the history of baseball was written. If famous big names like Babe Ruth, Yogi Berra, and Mickey Mantle ring a bell, Yankee Stadium should not be left out of the equation. In fact, you’ll not only be able to take a look at famous baseball artifacts from up close (such as Ruth’s bat and Jeter’s jersey), but also hold them in your hands. How exciting is that?

  1. New York State Museum

If you’d like to know more about New York’s cultural and natural history, New York State Museum is the place to be. Come around to explore its various science, art, and history exhibitions. If you’ve planning to bring your kids with you, don’t forget to check out the 4th floor where you can find a real carousel. And best of all? There’s absolutely no entry fee at all. Just bear in mind that examining everything in detail could really eat up a lot of your day, leaving you exhausted. As luck would have it, TownePlace Suites Albany Medical Center, your go-to place to spend the night, is less than a mile away.

  1. St. Patrick’s Cathedral

For those who love architecture and history, St. Patrick’s Cathedral is one of the most amazing buildings to admire from up close. You can even buy a souvenir (like books, candles, and rosaries, foe example), the proceeds of which go towards the church’s maintenance and upkeep. Feast your eyes on the glass art and carefully-crafted statues, the works of art you’ll never forget.

  1. Central Park

Situated in the heart of Manhattan, this 843-acre playground of sports activities is a must-see for the entire family. Whether it’s biking, walking, playing chess, or simply having a good time, there is plenty of space to do whatever you like. Just make sure you stop by at a time when the weather is pretty. And if you want to try something different, why not take your kids on an ice-skating adventure?

Conclusion

New York is the urban epitome of arts, culture, and enjoyment. In fact, there are so many things to do, you’ll probably not be able to fit in all in your schedule, but that’s okay! As long as you’re having a great time, anything goes. So when are you planning to visit?
