Although the city could not persevere many classic architectures of the part, like the Das Rotes Rathaus, as they were, but major alterations have been made to them so that they can withstand the challenge of time.

The Reichstag, which was the Nazi parliament structure, has been renovated by including a glass dome ceiling. The abandoned Potsdamer Platz district was assessed to determine if anything could be done with it. The engineers came up with an idea to redesign and revive it, which has been successful. They added a number of newer buildings as well in the surrounding to bring off the actual worth of the place. The Sony Center, an impressive structure, was an addition in the last five years.
