Top 5 Places to Visit in Amsterdam

Amsterdam is one of the most beautiful and interesting cities to visit in Europe with plenty of sights and attractions to offer. Not only is the city unique, but it has more than enough to marvel at, even thought it hasn’t got any world famous monuments or historical attractions. This jewel of Europe continues to draw thousands of visitors from all over the world because of its liberal culture and vibrant nightlife, and for first time visitors, there’s plenty to do here.

Visit the Van Gogh Museum
Van Gogh Museum is home to the works of the world famous artist Van Gogh, and it houses over 200 paintings and 550 sketches by the artist. The museum has the largest collection of Van Gogh’s works, and it also houses some of the work created by his friends. The museum gives you an insight in to the life of the Netherland’s most prolific artist, his art as well as his collection of pieces from all over the world, so if you are a big time lover of art, then this is the first place to begin your tour of Amsterdam.

Take a visit to Anne Frank House
While in Amsterdam, make it a point to visit the Anne Frank house, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Europe and a true reminder of the world war era. The house, which is now a museum, is where Anne Frank and her family hid during World War II. This museum serves as a reminder of the holocaust horrors and is visited by thousands of tourists each year. To avoid crowds, consider visiting during the morning hours when it is not very busy.

Enjoy the Best of Dutch Art at Rijksmuseum
Rijksmuseum is the biggest of its kind in the Netherlands and holds the greatest of Dutch art. It is visited by over a million people annually and its exhibition known as ‘the masterpieces’ holds the best of Dutch art from the 17th century. In the museum, you will have a chance to see the works of famous Dutch artists like Rembrandt, Vermeer and Hals just to mention a few. You also get a chance to see the museum treasury, beautiful dollhouses from the golden age and lots of traditional delftware.

Enjoy Beautiful Flowers at the Floating Flower Market

All in all, the canal cruises provide a great way to tour some of the city’s hidden parts.
