Tips When Looking For Companies Offering Backpackers Travel Insurance

There are many companies offering backpackers travel insurance which makes finding the best one a daunting task. It entails a lot of leg work and research on your part. With the plethora of choices available on the Internet, it all boils down to finding the provider that meets your budget and requirement. Emergency medical coverage

Emergency medical coverage is necessary in case you become ill or suffers an injury abroad. Backpacker travel insurance will vary from one provider to another but it would be a good idea to include rescue and ambulance costs when looking for a policy. Some providers include dental coverage as well so it might be worth considering if tooth ache sets in.

Policy Excess

When claiming backpackers insurance, policy excess will come in handy when you need to settle in case of a claim. Let us say you lost mobile phone while abroad, your insurance provider will only pay for the difference between the cost of your phone and the amount of excess on your policy. In general, the higher the excess, the cheaper is the policy.

Personal Belongings

Another must have coverage when looking for backpacker travel insurance is personal belongings. You need this provision so you get covered in case your baggage or valuables gets lost or stolen while abroad. You might want to check out the single item limit. When taking your valuables, you might opt to insure them separately or just leave them home.

Personal Money

With this provision, your travel money is covered from loss or theft. Generally, there will be a ‘cash or bank note’ limit which may be different from the total money limit. You are better off keeping your ATM receipts and secure it separate from your cash.

Activities Coverage

Not all activities will be covered when looking for backpackers travel insurance so do check if the activities you will engage in will be covered. Some providers cover winter sports such as skiing or snowboarding so make sure you get covered if you are performing these activities.

Geographical Coverage

Some insurers usually offer policies that provide coverage for various geographical locations so make sure that your backpackers insurance will cover the destinations you are going.

Duration

Here, the insurance provider will cover the length of your stay abroad. Some policies may offer coverage for several days up to certain number of years so do check with your provider.

These are just some of the provisions you need to consider when looking for backpackers travel insurance. Again, the features may vary from one insurer to another.

Check out this list of companies offering such kind of policy.
