5 Reasons To Visit Sweden This Winter

With Winter on the way, you may be starting to think about planning your next vacation. If you fancy taking a trip this Winter, have you considered going to Sweden? Many travellers make the mistake of thinking that Sweden is at its most beautiful during the Summer months. However, this isn’t the case.

While Sweden is beautiful from June to August, it is just as amazing during the colder months. So if you are stuck for ideas of somewhere to visit this Winter, this is one place that should be on your shortlist.

  1. You can ski

Yes, that’s right, Sweden has some excellent skiing resorts. Overall, across the country there are around 200 resorts.

From the famous Lapland resort to skiing facilities in Dalarna and Harjedalen, there are plenty of places to choose from. If you and your family or friends are keen skiers, skiing is a major reason to book a trip to this beautiful country.

  1. Lots of activities to do

As well as skiing, there are also plenty of other activities to immerse yourself in. So even if you aren’t a keen skier, you can have an amazing time here, getting involved in various other activities.

From tobogganing to going on a reindeer and moose tracking safari, there are lots of fantastic things you can do while in Sweden. If you are a fan of trying out different activities, you could consider booking one of the winter activity breaks in Sweden. These are ideal if you like to try out new things and meet new people.

  1. Sleep in an ice hotel

If you have ever seen one of those amazing ice hotels the chances are that you would jump at the chance, to stay in one. Well, in Sweden you can actually, stay in one of these amazing places.

As well as being able to stay in ice hotels in Jukkasjarvi, you can also choose to stay in an igloo. You can stay in a nice hotel anywhere, but in Sweden you can sleep in a room made of ice. How amazing is that?

  1. Watch the northern lights

If you are willing to brave the cold night time air, you may be able to see the famous northern lights. Something that is on most traveller’s bucket lists, seeing the northern lights is a once in a lifetime experience.

From October to April, these brightly coloured lights can often be seen dancing across the night sky. They can be seen from almost anywhere in the north of Sweden, the best place, however, is Abisko National Park.

  1. Visit the classic Christmas markets

If you are a lover of Christmas markets, taking a trip to Sweden is a must. Here you will find some of the world’s most amazing street markets, filled with all manner of amazing items. From delicious local delicacies to beautiful handmade items, Swedish markets have it all.

There are so many awesome reasons to take a trip to Sweden this Winter, these are just a few of them.
