5 Extreme Activities to Do on a Vacation

When people go on a vacation, they usually spend it sightseeing, frolicking by the beach, or camping in the woods. If they’re not sleeping in a tent somewhere, they are probably staying in a hotel room with all the worldly comforts just within a one-mile radius. Nothing wrong with that of course except that it can get boring for people who are craving for fun, adventure, and a lot of excitement. This is why people like to engage in extreme activities while they’re on vacation. This is not for everyone, obviously, but if you’re looking forward to a grand time on your holiday, here are 5 extreme activities you can try: White water rafting White water rafting is a fun and exciting outdoor activity using an inflatable raft and paddle to navigate the river, with really fast currents and various levels of difficulty. Due to the rapids, your raft could turn upside down and you will end up in the water or be carried away in the current. Most rafting activities take about 4-8 hours, depending on which place you go to. Bungee jumping If you have no fear of heights, you can go bungee jumping and jump from a […]

A guide to Norway’s Ski Resorts

A guide to Norway’s Ski Resorts

No one really associates Norway with skiing. It was once the most popular destination for British skiers. They flocked there in their thousands. Then, for some reason they started to go to the Alps. Maybe it was marketing, maybe it was that fewer airlines serviced it or it could be that the slopes weren’t as challenging. Whatever it was, Norway became forgotten. The country that invented skiing fell off the radar, completely. Oh well, there loss is everyone else’s gain. The select few who go there (Although that may be about to change with Crystal ski selling Norwegian ski resorts again) will find that they have the run of the town. The slopes aren’t the most challenging (if you’re an expert maybe go elsewhere) but they are empty. Being free from the early morning standstills at the lifts, means that lift rage is a thing of the past. But what are the resorts? and what are they like? Well the main resorts are Hemsedal (no not the place from Lord of the Rings), Beitostolen and Geilo. Every Norway resort is rustic and rural. Not so rural that you can’t get bread and milk, though. It just has a back to […]

Busselton makes an excellent base from which to explore the surrounding areas including the Margaret River Wine Region to the north, and Augusta to the south. There are numerous great caravan parks in the surrounding area to […]

Most Unusual Modes Of Transport From Around The World

Most Unusual Modes Of Transport From Around The World

According to Wikipedia, the wheel probably came into being during the Neolithic Revolution when the nomadic manner of farming changed to a settled one. This would have brought new transportation challenges to farmers. The inventor would be utterly astounded at the evolution of the wheel from its rudimentary beginnings to the modern day motor vehicle. They would be equally impressed by the ingenious transportation contraptions that are fashioned by those who must make do with what their meagre finances allow. Pedal Power: Africa Having a bicycle in Africa is tantamount to owning a haulage business and a taxi service. A few modifications such as attaching flat metal sheets to the front and back of the bicycle make it ideal for transporting a large variety of goods. It simply takes the inherent balancing skills practised by Africans from the time they are able to totter around with a container of water on their heads. Loaded with household furniture, livestock or an astonishing number of passengers makes this balancing feat one that would not seem out of place in the Cirque de Soleil. Pedal Power: Vietnam Vietnam has been making extensive use of pedal power since bicycles were first introduced and the […]
