Chernobyl Museum: Heroic Deeds in the Face of Danger

Travel Tips
Chernobyl Museum: Heroic Deeds in the Face of Danger

The Chernobyl Disaster reached a whole new level of danger. Considered as the worst nuclear power plant accident in history. It rose to a level 7 event, which only it and Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster hold. 500,000 heroes emerged from the disaster, each and every one of them fought to contain the disaster knowing in mind the dangers that it presented. Sadly, people died and a lot more caught the long lasting effects of nuclear radiation. The Ukrainian National Chornobyl Museum was established in 1992 as a tribute to the heroic acts and victims of the disasters, it also educates the lookers about the magnitude of the catastrophic event. On your way in, you’ll walk by road signs on either side, they represent the abandoned villages due to the disaster. Attendants will meet with you and guide you through the museum, there’s also an audio background explaining what happened during those events. There are tons of other exhibits, some are so real looking while others are kind of disturbing, and so if you have kids with you steer clear of some. Displayed there is a wooden crib with a dead tree sprouting from the middle. On the branches hang picture […]

Dip in the Hungarian Sea

Beach Vacations
Dip in the Hungarian Sea

Lake Balaton is impressively the largest lake there is in Central Europe, no wonder it became one of the top tourist destinations. It’s a freshwater lake, but due to its size, it was called the Hungarian Sea. Spas, resorts, various wildlife and wine regions can be found all around Lake Balaton. The lake itself is 50 miles long, if you’re not a good swimmer or if you have kids with you, then take a dip on southern shores. Waters get instantly deep at the northern shores and it has an entrance fee. Peak season starts in July and August, so expect big crowds and ridiculous prices. If you really don’t feel up to fighting your way through all of that, visit during June or September. Don’t worry because the water is still warm enough. If you don’t feel like swimming, you should explore the lake via bike along its 200 kilometer bicycle path. Also, you have a choice of either windsurfing or sailing along the lake, why not try both? Tons of other activities are available, so book a hotel ahead of time. Remember that this is a top tourist destination, so it’s likely that most of them will be […]

Best Wursts in Germany

A big part of Germany’s culinary culture is their mouthwatering wursts. All over the world, they have the largest collection of wurst there is. All in all, the number is over a staggering 1,500 different kind of wursts. Unfortunately not each and every one is available outside Germany. But, your local German shops might provide a huge portion of the number. For on the list of the best is their traditional Bratwurst. Mainly made out of pork and encased in natural casing, this is a favorite among Germans and so many varieties and unique recipes have been created since. Then there’s Blutwurst, the name isn’t really that appetizing, but you’d be surprised how savory and delicious it is. It’s also made out of pork, but with the addition of pig’s blood, don’t cringe until you try! One that can’t disappear from the top is the Currywurst, found almost anywhere in Germany, this famous wurst is abundant in Berlin where it originated. It’s also made out of pork and traditionally eaten with curry ketchup. On the other hand, veal and pork make up the delectable Weisswurst, it’d also color white. El Celler de Can Roca: Best Restaurant in Spain

Fine dining at its best, not only is it the finest in Spain, but El Celler de Can Roca’s outstanding food and wine alongside their amazing service has granted them the position of second best restaurant in the world. Last year they we’re the first and they have never disappeared from the top. Diners will be greeted with the utmost hospitality from the crew, dining consists of a 14 course meal accompanied by varied wines and Sherries. Aside from their unique blends of flavors and ingredients, what gives them an edge is the creative way they present each meals. They use molecular gastronomy techniques to enhance the flavor and the presentation of their food. You’ll never see olives presented on a bonsai tree or calamari turned into crackers anywhere else. It may seem like a plentiful course, but they are all portioned to make you feel satisfied and not bloated at the end of dining. Once you’re seated inside, a waiter (with your permission) will serve a dish containing five bite sized delicacies representing the five countries that inspired the chef. From there, your pleasant two and a half dining experience begin. We’re sure that you’d love to dine here, […]

Breathe the Fresh Air in Eco-Friendly Sweden

Sweden is now known as one of the most eco-friendly countries in the world. With all their achievements in helping mother earth become a better place to live, it’s kind of hard not to gawk at every innovation that they thought of. The Swedish has taken it upon themselves to make a better future for the next generations. In all their eco-friendly innovations, even tourists attractions weren’t overlooked. So many attractions have been opened up and established for the enjoyment of locals and tourists, all of which are 100% eco-friendly. And for the record, some of these aren’t just the kind of attractions that you simply admire and look at, some of them are actually functioning hotels and lodges. One of the said hotels is called Kolarbyn, it’s the most primitive hotel in Sweden. How primitive you ask? Well there’s no electricity or water, that’s how primitive. But despite all that it’s quite lovely actually; you get cozy little room with a fire place, two beds with sheep skin rugs, it’s not the most comfortable place in the world and yet there’s a certain beauty to staying there. After a warm and cozy night you’ll wake up to birds singing […]
