Destinations/North America
Taking On the Niagara Falls: USA vs. Canada

Niagara Falls is the joining tourist destination on the international border of Canada and the United States. There are a total of three waterfalls, which make up the entire gathering. Those three include: Horseshoe Falls, American Falls, and Bridal Veil Falls. On either side there is so much to do and see, making the falls a wonderful travel destination for any traveller. There is always talk about which side of the falls is better: the U.S. side or the Canadian side. While it is difficult to decide until you visit, here is a break down for both sides of the amazing Niagara Falls. United States: Some people will point out that they do not like seeing all the background buildings on the Canada side, as it takes away from the natural beauty of the falls; others will also note that there is not as good of an overall view of all the falls on the American side. However, there are a lot of activities and tours on the U.S. side that you can be a part of. There is the ‘Cave of the Winds,’ which really submerges you in to the falls. Once taking a quick elevator ride to the […]

Discovering the Island of Batanes, Philippines ~ My Sanctuary

Discovering the Island of Batanes, Philippines ~ My Sanctuary

I’ve been anticipating my plan to go to Batanes last December 2013, but my flights have been canceled twice, so I have to go for another airlines which is Philippine Airlines. Travelling to Batanes has been tagged as really expensive, well that’s partly true. To tour Batanes the cheapest way, you have to wait for Airline Seatsale! Since I cannot wait anymore, I booked my flight despite its high price. I intend to unwind in Batanes, so this time, I availed of Full Board Package at Batanes Seaside Lodge instead of doing in on my own. My package details can be found here. Since I am travelling solo, I pay P16,000. I also made a request to take a motorbike instead of Van. Even if you do it on your own, it will still cost you much. You would need to hire a tourguide, or a car, since there isn’t always PUV passing by. I think you have to hire a tricycle or rent a bike. I arrived in Batanes 8am via PAL Express. FREEZING COLD! A guy from Batanes Seaside lodge fetched me ( I forgot his name!) I love my room! It’s facing the beach, and there’s also […]

America’s Small Towns: Visiting Historic Doylestown, Pennsylvania

When traveling, one can sometimes overlook or genuinely miss out on the small towns of the world. Many will gravitate towards the major, well-known cities, but we cannot forget the other culturally rich towns across the globe. In the suburban outskirts of Philadelphia, there is the small town of Doylestown, Pennsylvania. It is easy to get to, as it is the last stop from Center City on the Lansdale/Doylestown Regional Rail Line. Taking the train provides for reliable and convenient transportation and allows for the perfect escape from the bustling city; it even gives you some time to simply relax and watch the scenery fly by your window. Doylestown is a place that is filled with music, art, and great coffee. It is the hometown of several artists, writers, musicians, and several other public figures. The most notable would be James A. Michener (writer), Henry Chapman Mercer (architect), Pearl S. Buck (noble prize winning author), and Pink (pop-star). When in Doylestown, be sure to make an appearance at the James A. Michener Art Museum or the Mercer Museum, an exhibit on early American artifacts. These are two of the most visited places in Doylestown, filling your day trip with plenty […]

One Day Tour to Corregidor Philippines via Sun Cruises

I availed 3 tickets for a One Day Tour in Corregidor last year during the Travel Mart Expo in Moa for only P1600 each. That includes the RT Ferry, Tour Bus and Buffet Lunch. In case you missed it, you can check Sun Cruises homepage for the prices. There are also several activities you might want to try, camping is also possible. Corregidor is known for its historical value. It’s a good place to go back to the times when Japanese invaded PH in 1941. It is a small island in Cavite, and approximately 48km away from Manila Bay. I called Sun Cruises for advance reservation on January 16, 2014. How to get to Sun Cruises? VIA EDSA Take MRT going to Taft Ave MRT From Taft MRT transfer to LRT 1 Edsa and go to LRT Vito Cruz (P12) From Vito Cruise, walk to Rizal Stadium and take the orange jeep going to CCP Drop off to Sun Cruises Go to Reservation Boot and get your Boarding Sticker. Bunbury: America’s Underrated Music Festival

Bunbury: America’s Underrated Music Festival

America’s summers are made up of BBQ’s, fireworks, apple pies, and music festivals. While the most recognized festivals include Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza, you just might find yourself pleasantly surprised by the smaller and younger festivals found across the country. Not only are they usually cheaper, but also they add a more local flavor to the atmosphere while staging a credible weekend lineup. Out on the banks of the Ohio River in Cincinnati, Ohio, stands Sawyer Point and Yeatman’s Cove. It is here that the Bunbury Music Festival takes place in mid-July and always puts up a great showing. It not only has had great music every year, but also the riverbank setting provides for a great way to explore the Cincinnati area; there is a great view of Newport, Kentucky as you relax on the cement, amphitheater-like stairs, which lead down to the river. The Bunbury Music Festival has only been around for two years, but do not let that fool you. Even in its first year, Bunbury was able to have performers like: Death Cab For Cutie, City and Colour, Neon Trees, and Weezer. For its second festival in 2013, the lineup became even better; with headliners like FUN., […]
