Copenhagen’s Most Exciting Nightspots

Destinations/Europe/Travel Tips
Copenhagen’s Most Exciting Nightspots

Copenhagen’s nightlife is at its most vibrant during the later part of the week, and especially at weekends. As in many cities, the nightspots tend to be concentrated in a few areas. Norrebro and Vesterbro districts have some of the most popular clubs. Elsewhere you can find clubs to suit nearly every musical taste and also good restaurants, cafés and bars which feature music and also stay open late. Rust Rust is a long-established Copenhagen nightspot with facilities which include four bars and three separate floors. This makes for a great night out, offering plenty of variety from Wednesday right through to Saturday. Rust’s live stage features the best Danish bands playing a mix of music genres from indie rock and pop, through to hip-hop and electronica formats. The atmosphere is fun and easy going and Denmark’s best DJs, along with occasional appearances from international DJs too, help to keep the music and the crowd going until late – which generally means around 5 a.m. Karriere Karriere is a pleasant mix of bar, restaurant and café, founded by sculptural artist, Jeppe Hein, and his sister, Lærke. Their intention is to blend hospitality with art and thus to create a warm […]

Drinks With King Charles I: England’s Oldest Free House

Europe
Drinks With King Charles I: England’s Oldest Free House

Just under an hour outside of the city limits of London is a night out or an afternoon drink you do not want to miss out on. It is the Royal Standard of England, and it is the longest running freehouse in the country. With its history running back over 900 years, it is said that King Charles I had once used the pub as a secret hideout before trying to escape to France in the mid 1600’s. While once named “The Ship,” The Royal Standard was given its title from King Charles II, as a way to honor the pub for providing shelter during his father’s attempted escape. Aside from its rich history and ghost stories, the Royal Standard of England sets up the perfect location for refreshing drinks and brilliant pub food. Imagine tucking yourself into the same rustic room where King Charles himself had once sat. The wooden beams across the ceiling and the worn in furniture makes it look like a scene straight out of a British historical movie. The shelves are stocked with a fine wine selection, while on tap there is a diverse assortment of beers to chose from. Watch your head however, because […]

Your Guide to Lanzarote Water Parks

Adventure Travel/Destinations
Your Guide to Lanzarote Water Parks

If you’re spending time on holiday in Lanzarote, you’ll need to know the best places to cool off. Lanzarote temperatures are often around 20°c even in the run up to Christmas, and can reach 30°c over the summer months. If you’re staying in a villa then you might have your own swimming pool, and you’ll want to make the most of it in between your visits to local attractions and your time on the beach, but did you know that Lanzarote also has some fantastic water parks for a fun and refreshing day out? Hotel Water Parks It’s worth noting that a majority of water parks in Lanzarote are little more than a hotel swimming pool with a few slides and water features. These might not sound impressive, but you’ll benefit from lower entry prices and they’re usually big enough to keep you occupied all day. Some hotel water parks are free to enter, and if you’re a hotel guest then you’ll have access to the hotel pool every single day. Two of the biggest and best hotel water parks are Aqualava and Dino Park: Aqualava The Aqualava Water Park used to be exclusively for guests at the Lanzasur Club […]

Rhode Island’s Mansion-Lined Cliff Walk

Destinations/North America
Rhode Island’s Mansion-Lined Cliff Walk

Imagine going back to the late 1800’s, and you are getting ready to go to a fancy summer party at one of greatest homes of all time. As you pull down the winding driveway and up to the grand entrance, you get out of the car only to be greeted with a glass of champagne. You are in your finest evening attire, as you enter a massive, elegantly designed ballroom. Making your rounds, you mingle and introduce yourself to some of the richest people in the world. That is your typical social scene during America’s gilded age. This would have occurred on multiple occasions throughout the summer, as the mansion owners strived to keep up with all social standards. Although the parties are over and these same families no longer live here anymore, we still have these beautiful homes that allow us to go back in time through America’s vibrant history. Rhode Island may not be the largest state in America, but it sure makes up for it with its mansion-lined cliff walk. In order to take a look back into the gilded age, Newport, Rhode Island is truly the place to go. With mansions built at the turn of […]
