If you are from the United Kingdom, some movies might have given you a feeling of dejavu that you have already been there. Well, that’s because there are scenes of certain movies that have been shot in UK locations. Here are five famous British attractions used in the movies: Mentmore Towers This 19th century Buckinghamshire country house may have housed some of the popular names in British nobility but in the movies it has played host to some of the far more disreputable big screen characters. It has been used to stand in for Wayne Manor, the home of Bruce Wayne, aka Batman. It also appeared in movies like Eyes Wide Shut in 1999, Brazil in 1985, The Mummy Returns in 2001, Ali G Indahouse in 2002, and Batman Begins in 2005. Betchworth Quarry The white cliffs of this quarry have become an excellent backdrop in both the big screen and television. It was the location for a chase scene in the classic 70s horror movie Scream and Scream Again and was also featured in episodes of Doctor Who. Today, the Betchworth Quarry is nothing but a rubbish landfill but the cliff can still be reached via the North Downs […]

Harry Potter may already be gone in the big screen but his legacy lives on at the Universal Studios Harry Potter Japan. Based on the highly popular book series by British author J.K. Rowling and subsequent movies produced by Warner Bros. the theme park in Osaka is the second Wizarding World od Harry Potter site of Universal Studios. The original theme park opened at Universal Studios Florida in 2010, which recently inaugurated Diagon Alley, another section of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Universal Studios Hollywood, meanwhile, is set to launch its own version by 2016. Two stars from the movie Tom Felton and Evanna Lynch who played Draco Malfoy and Luna Lovegood attended the opening ceremonies wearing their Slytherin and Ravenclaw scarves. Then the two performed a mock “Revelio” spell – a charm used to reveal hidden objects— after which the archway entrance filled with smoke. As it cleared, Hogsmeade Village was revealed to the guests waiting to enter the new attraction. Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson may have been too busy to attend the event, but author J.K. Rowling herself reportedly visited the par before it was launched. She cannot help but be amazed with the craft and […]

You never have to be more organised when travelling than when you are with the kids! Kids are full of energy, and they will expel that energy anyway they can. Of course, if they are cooped up in the car, on a train or a plane, everyone around you is going to know about it. Families are starting to plan long car journeys and holidays with the kids in mind. Long gone are the days when kids could move about freely in the car, swapping seats and getting cuddles from you. We are all strapped down for the duration of the journey. Of course, that doesn’t work for kids. They need to move about and exercise those vocal chords! Tiny tots in particular should be free to move around as much as possible each day to help their bones and muscles develop properly. Most child car seats recommend a maximum of 2 ½ hours use per journey. It’s easy to forget babies need breaks from the car, when they have nappies on! If you are going on holiday with the kids, the journey getting there needs to be planned as meticulously as the holiday itinerary itself. If you are driving […]
