3 Commonly Forgotten Insurance Types for Your Overseas Holidays

On your next overseas holiday, be mindful of these commonly forgotten insurance types. These insurances can help save you a significant amount of money if an accident occurs. Many people who have accidents on holiday are often put in a financial bind. A financial bind may cause significant hardship on a family and cause them stress and loss of assets. Every family should have insurance while on a holiday. Here are the most important types that I have found.

1. Overseas Medical Insurance

Emergency and accidental medical insurance policies are necessary if you are traveling overseas. This type of insurance ensures that you are reimbursed or covered for medical expenses during a trip. With overseas medical coverage, travelers are reimbursed or covered when they incur medical expenses during the trip.

Some overseas medical insurance will cover pre-existing conditions, but may not cover certain extreme sports. These policies simply require that they are informed prior to the trip.  Other policies will not cover prior conditions. Some insurance companies will cover medical evacuation in cases of political unrest or better medical care in another area.

2.  Travel Insurance

Baggage loss and theft is often a reality of travel. Travel insurance will cover trip cancellation, baggage loss or theft, and some travel insurance may cover accidental medical and life insurance. For instance, a traveler may die in another country, and the body may be shipped home for a memorial service. Travel insurance will cover this cost.

Travel insurance will cover any losses after the valuation of the possessions are made. Travelers are typically required to place value to possessions to determine the reimbursement. Once proof of ownership is provided, travelers simply need to submit photos and original receipts of purchase to file claims. Some insurance companies will pay out immediately to get people recovered while on a trip and others will not. Research should be completed to determine the company’s policies.

Some people may have travel insurance on their credit cards and do not need to purchase additional insurance. This is a convenience that many customers have. Check with credit card companies to ensure that this type of coverage is available.

3. Disability Insurance

Disability insurance is recommended for people who may suffer from a long-term injury. If a traveler is disabled on a trip and cannot work, then disability insurance should available for use to protect a home mortgage or protect other aspects of your lifestyle. Don’t forget insurance types for your overseas holiday.

Don’t Forget These Three Commonly Forgotten Insurance Types!

On your next trip, don’t forget the travel insurance, medical insurance, and disability insurance. This insurance may seem like a large investment, but if any problem occurs, the problem can much more costly. Some people have lost their homes and livelihoods due to unplanned complications on trips. Travel insurance is an important aspect of holiday travel.
