Get a More Meaningful Travel Experience with these Yoga Holiday Spots

Yoga has become an increasingly popular pastime for many people. It allows you to still your mind and body in a hectic world and build you inner strength. It is something that many people continue to do whilst on holiday, however, it is actually possible to go on a yoga holiday; here are some of the best places to visit:

Yoga 1

Les Passeroses, France

Les Passeroses is located in the south west of France and has become known as the place to go to experience a wide range of yoga styles. The accommodation is simple let luxurious. Each place has a wooden floor, large fireplace and a variety of beautiful fabrics. You can expect two yoga sessions per day and a two hour meditation. The rest of the time can be filled with long walks, swimming in the pool and sampling the local wine.

Simon Low, Goa

Simon Low, in Goa is an excellent travel spot for a yoga rejuvenation. Here you will stay in exotic beachfront huts made from bamboo. There will be two sessions of yoga a day and they will be taught by Simon, one of the co-founders of Tri-Yoga. His teachings have been described as dynamic and intense.

The Yoga Farm, Costa Rica

The Yoga Farm is the ultimate spot for those who wish to indulge in both yoga and surfing.  The two, pastimes actually go very well together. The accommodation is on a hilltop without any connection to the main grid. The electricity is supplied by solar panels and, the toilets are compostable and all the fruit and veg are grown on site. You will have a daily yoga session followed by a surf lesson, for those who need it.

Yoga 2

Adventure Yoga Retreats, Portugal

Adventure Yoga Retreat is held in the western Algarve and involves two yoga sessions per day and one meditation session. The accommodation is very close to the beach where you can enjoy the sun, surf, or even try doing some rock climbing. Breakfast and an evening meal are included with your accommodation and will center on local dishes.

Yoga Barn, Bali

There are an abundance of yoga teachers in Bali and many of them will teach you a different style! The yoga barn is based in Ubud and runs eight different yoga classes every day.  You can stay in the Ubud Aura Retreat Centre and literally roll out of bed and into a class!

Jason Vale Juice and Yoga Retreats, Turkey

Jason Vale will offer you a way to lose weight and gain inner peace by sampling his juiced beetroot every day.  This is followed with several yoga classes and the results speak for themselves. The intention is to reinforce that it is important to think about what you put into your body. You will participate in yoga, t’ai chi and meditation every day.  You will also be able to hike and swim to help get rid of excess weight.

Kali yoga, Spain

There are a variety of choices to choose from at this retreat in the Alpujarra region of Andalucia. The temperature is almost always warm and your yoga classes are held overlooking some breath taking mountain scenery. The yoga focuses on meditation and moving slowly into positions, this means that you will be able to get into positions you didn’t previously think possible.

Vana Malsi Estate, Uttarakhand, India

Last but not least, we have the Himalayas. The Vana Malsi Estate in Uttarakhand is an ideal spot for a yoga holiday. The retreat is set at the base of the Himalayan Mountains and borders the Ganges where many Hindus come to visit and worship. This yoga retreat has been frequented by several famous people, including the Beatles. The place does not follow a specific style of yoga. Instead it seeks to improve your breathing, body control and posture by analyzing your current form in the twice daily yoga sessions.

There are yoga retreats popping up in a variety of places around the world and they all offer an excellent alternative to the traditional vacation. Whether you’re feeling stressed or you just need a place to relax, you should definitely give yoga holidays a shot. They’re worth every penny!
