Celebrity Beach Bowl 2014

Celebrity Beach Bowl 2014 is a flag football game held on an annual basis during the eve of the Super Bowl. This year’s edition was held at the DTV Super Fan Stadium on the world’s largest indoor beach. Over the years, it has become one of the most attended events of the Super Bowl weekend. Now on its eight year, it features celebrities competing against NFL football greats in a flag football game.

Held on February 1, 2014, the event was shown live on DIRECTV’s Audience Network, NBC Sports Network, Root Sports Networks (Northwest, Rocky Mountain and Pittsburgh) as well as internationally on DIRECTV’s Pan Americana and Puerto Rican outlets.

Open to the public on a first-come basis, viewers were advised to come early to reserve their spots. The Celebrity Beach Bowl 2014 attracted the likes of Chace Crawford of Gossip Girl, Nina Dobrev of The Vampire Diaries, Meghan Markle from Suits, Cole Hauser of Rogue, Scott Porter from the Hart of Dixie, Shay Mitchell of Pretty Little Liars, to name just a few. The athletes side include NFL Hall of Famers Joe Montana, Deion Sanders and Warren Moon, LaDainian Tomlinson of the New York Jets, Tony Gonzales from the Atlanta Falcons, the New York Giants Jesse Palmer and Amani Toomer and Jon Ritchie of the Oakland Raiders.

Three-time Grammy nominated sensation Paramore performed during the post-game show. They sang hits from their self-titled fourth studio album which debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 Chart and adjudged “Best Rock Album” by Entertainment Weekly.

Doors opened at 10 am with a tailgate party and Z100 broadcast. The pregame show started at 1 pm with Isaac Slade of the Fray singing the National Anthem fifty minutes later. The game started at 2 pm with halftime show hosted by Food Network personality Andrew Zimmern.

Celebrities and athletes were divided up randomly with the New York Giant’s Jesse Palmer quarterbacking the blue jerseyed “Finest” team while Warren Moon was the opposing quarterback for the white “Bravest” team. In the end, the team of Palmer emerged victorious 35-28 after coming back from a 21-0 deficit early in the game.
