Things You Must know For First Skiing Holidays

To be fair, hurtling down the sides of steep mountains, wearing very tight clothes at eye watering speeds is not everyone’s cup of tea. We are, of course, talking about skiing, the adrenalin charged, fast paced sport of most snowy places. Learning to ski to an acceptable level does not actually take that much time, and you don’t really need to be that fit or athletic. You do, of course, have to have a certain physical ability, but once you are on the slope it is pretty much is all downhill.   That said, like any extreme sport, the further you take it, the more demanding it becomes until you eventually achieve higher levels of skill, fitness and acquire the much sought after steely nerve. However, before you go out and book a ticket to France or Austria, here are a few tips you could definitely learn from. Take the first steps. Whatever you do, don’t go on a skiing holiday with friends or family if they offer to teach you whilst you are there. The friend or family member generally makes a terrible skiing coach who will bore quickly and eventually say the magic words ‘you’ll be fine’. This, […]

Where To Get Cheap Flights

Traveling is an expensive venture. The airfare and accommodation alone can already eat a huge chunk of your budget. But there is a way around it. By looking around, it is possible to find packages that will suit your budget. Here are some tips on finding cheap flights: 1. Use fair flight search engines. Most airfare search engines are owned or operated by major airlines so expect that they will be biased towards their company. However, there are other search engines that will give you fair and unbiased rates. Examples of these websites are Skyscanner and Momondo 2. Look for flights from nearby airports.Sometimes it is more expensive to book flights from local airports to your destination. On the other hand, flights that emanate from nearby airports can be cheaper. Although you may have to drive or take a bus to the nearby airport, it may give you some savings on your flight. Carriers from these airports are much smaller than the major ones so they can easily adjust their ticket rates. 3. Check airline websites. If you will only look around at the various airline websites, you may be able to find great deals. You may know it, but […]

Where to Get Winter Sports Travel Insurance

The recent ski accident of F1 great Michael Schumacher provides us with a stern reminder of the importance of getting winter sports travel insurance. Skiing or snowboarding is always enjoyable but without insurance coverage, the vacation is something that you would rather forget.  We do not know when accidents may happen so it is always best to be safe than sorry. A November 2012 study by insurance firm Aviva showed that only 4 out of 10 first time snow sports enthusiasts have winter sports insurance coverage. The study also revealed that the more experienced winter sports enthusiasts are the ones who will most likely apply for this type of insurance. This goes to show that people who have gone on winter sports holidays are aware of the risks of this kind of activity. You might think that having an annual travel insurance policy is enough to cover you in case you get injured from engaging in winter sports. Bear in mind that the regular insurance policy will not cover you for winter sports. However, this may vary from one insurer to another so it is important to read and understand the fine prints. In general, winter sports travel insurance does […]

If you are going overland from a neighboring country, secure a travel visa from a Vietnamese embassy. Here now are the steps for getting a Visa on Arrival: 1. Apply online Travel agencies will usually charge around $20 for the online application of your Visa on Arrival. The process usually takes 2-3 days although you can expedite it for a minimal fee.
