Exploring The Natural Wonders of Fiji

Stretching 194,000 kilometers, Fiji is an archipelago made up of 330 islands of unspoiled beaches, volcanic mountains and tropical rainforests. The island was formed out of volcanic activity approximately 150 million years ago. The inspiration behind Daniel Defoe’s Robinson Crusoe or Jonathan Swift’s Gulliver’s Travel, the spiked mountains rising from the sea floor and the wild song birds are just some of Fiji’s natural wonders that is waiting to be explored. Here is a glimpse of some of the island’s natural beauty that would make a trip truly worthwhile. Korovanitu National Heritage Park This national park is a hiker’s paradise. A half hour drive from Nadi International Airport on Viti Levu, Korovanitu National Heritage Park boasts of a lush forest with grasslands, archaeological sites, and six self sufficient villages which is part of a current conservation project. There are several hiking spots in the park including a guided hike to Mount Batilamu which takes five hours to complete. A view of the sunrise from the mountain can be a breathtaking scene.
