For many adventurous geeks, camping is much more like a habit than a trip. Camping in unexpected places give them the thrill and the make their blood racing. Camping in some unknown places, far away from the regular camping sites, helps them to fulfill their passion for camping where they need to fight for survival and cross a number of unknown outdoor risks. Camping away from the regular sites where all the amenities are provided to the campers like electricity, shelter and food, allows them to polish their surviving skills. Here is a list of the skills that are essential for these dare daring people –

Making a Campfire
If you want to leave alone on an unknown and a wild site, it is indispensable that you will have to build a campfire. There are different methods of building a fire such as teepee, magnifying glass, or a log. Building your own campfire is essential as it will be the only source of fire for cooking, keeping yourself warm and as a light. Apart from that, a campfire can be a signal to others in case you are lost and can also keep you safe from wild animals in the unknown areas!
Safety tip – In case of any danger, build a fire using wet leaves as it will release dark smoke in the air and help you signal your mates to rescue you.

Leaving behind Marks or Crafting a Trail
Leaving a trail or directional marks will assist you in your survival, something that most travelers ignore or take for granted! Such a signal makes it easy for other people to track you in time. It will also be helpful to you, incase you lose your way. It will help you to track down the direction you came from in the first place.

Cooking Only Non-oily and Non-aromatic Food
While camping at your own risk site, you will be carrying with yourself a number of different items to survive in the wild. One of the survival tip every camper should follow is to avoid cooking oily and greasy food. Is it for your health? No. if the smell of your food is strong, it will attract wild animals to your campsite and you will be in danger. So, avoid cooking food which gives off strong smell and save yourself from wild animals.

Resisting Temptation to Feed Animals
If you are fond of feeding wild animals such as cubs of lions or bears, resist that temptation when you are alone in the wild! You will never realize that their parents are around them too and will not restrain themselves from attacking you, no matter how good you are to their cubs!
