Top 5 Cheap Vacation ideas

Most of us dream of vacationing in an exotic beach paradise or go skiing in the Alps. But due to budget constraints, everything becomes just wishful thinking. But being cash-strapped does not mean you will forego your dream vacation already. Here are the five cheap vacation ideas to help you fulfil your dream to travel.

Explore Local Tourist Spots

You do not have to go far to explore tourist sites because there are many of them right in your own backyard. For instance, if you are from New York, visit the Statue of Liberty or if you are from San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge. This will save you a lot of money for airfares or hotel accommodations in a foreign land.

However, if you are planning to be a local tourist, do get out of your comfort zone. You can check in at a local hostel but avoid staying in your house because it might become a distraction or excuse not to go sightseeing.

Travel Regionally

If you want to extend your reach, go and travel to your region. You can check out a regional guidebook to have an idea of the places you can visit in your region. Again, you do not have to take a plane or cross the ocean to explore some sceneries. There is adventure right there in your own neighbourhood.

Go Camping

Camping is a great way to travel on a budget. There are many camp sites in America that costs only $15. The great thing about camping is that you already have a ready accommodation (your tent) and some food. This way, you do not have to worry about paying for hotel accommodations or eating at expensive restaurants. All you need is a tent and some groceries and that’s it. Besides, most national parks have cabins which are still relative cheaper than a hotel room.

Do Volunteer Work

Volunteerism is a good way to travel without spending much money. By being a volunteer, you get to do something good for the community. Most volunteer organizations shoulder board and lodging so all you have to pay for is your plane ticket. It is unlikely that you will still spend some extra money because you will be very busy “working.”However, make sure that you choose the right company so that the money will go to the right recipient.

House Sit

House sitting for another person while they are on vacation is a great way to travel and explore a destination. We all know that accommodations can take up a huge chunk of your travel budget. However, with house sitting, you get free accommodation and a place where you can cook. You can do some occasional travelling if you wish.

Being cash strapped does not have to be an issue that will bar you from having a vacation. Consider these cheap vacation ideas and travel without having to worry about money.
